Four-wheel brakes are pedal operated through 'Lockhead' hydraulic cylinders with two-leading-shoe brakes on front wheels. The generous lining area ensures maintenance of high braking efficiency over long periods whilst the pedal pressure required is extremely light. The handbrake, conveniently placed to the right of the driver (left on left-hand drive vehicles) applies the rear brakes through a mechanical linkage. Brake sizes are: front 10 in. diameter x 2¼ in. wide (254 mm. x 57.15 mm.); rear 9 in. diameter x 1¾ in. wide (228.6 mm. x 44.45 mm.) giving a total lining area of 146 sq. in. (942 sq. cm.).
